What a difference a year makes. Last year we had wind and rain, this year not so much.
128 golfers teed it up at the Dyke. The sun shone, a gentle breeze wafted in from Scandinavia and Joe ran about like a headless chicken. The only hiccup was a problem with the IG system. Technology is great on the rare occasion it works! But this was resolved, and everyone was playing on the right course, off the correct handicap!
Jon Gross, Pete O'Neill, Paul Black and Mike Spencer
As ever, Jags warmly greeted everyone on arrival. We sold over £800 worth of ball sweep tickets, on behalf of the Pro, who was hiding in the Canaries.
Post golf, we were treated to a fine steak and ale pie, followed by a cracking crumble and a boat load of custard. Perfect golfers fare!
This event includes the AGM. This is where we conduct Captains business and elect new officers. Joe would like to apologies to Andy Plowright for forgetting to call a vote on his election as our Vice-Captain and he would like to thank all those in the room who publicly reminded him of his error. One day, Andy may forgive him.
But who won?
1st – 46 points – Dave Boys and Jeffrey Lamb
2nd – 43 points - Peter Broome and Gordon Smith
3rd – 43 points – Peter Billcliff (90) and Sean Nolan
4th – 43 points – Steve Tigg and Geoff Dykes
Our thanks to everyone at the Dyke for hosting us and getting our year off to such a great start. We look forward to coming back next year. Although, we may limit numbers to 120.
We don't host an event for the vice Captains, which is a shame. However, East Brighton Golf Club do. This is something we'd like to support. The day is open to the Vice-Captain, Captain and Pro. You can find an application form on the East Brighton Website of by clicking this link.
*We are not hosting this event we are promoting events held by clubs who support us. If your club would like to promote an event or offer, put them in touch with Joe.
